Generation Radio is a rock supergroup formed with the intent to revive the classic sounds of 1970s and 1980s rock music. Signed to Frontiers Music Srl, the group features Jay DeMarcus, a two-time Grammy Award-winning bassist and producer known for his work with Rascal Flatts, and Jason Scheff, who served as lead vocalist and bass player for the multi-platinum band Chicago for more than 30 years. They are joined by drummer Steve Ferrone of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, along with studio musicians and vocalists Chris Rodriguez and Tom Yankton.
The members of Generation Radio bring extensive experience from the rock and country music industries. Rascal Flatts achieved 17 Number One hits, sold over 23.4 million albums, 35 million digital downloads, and 2.2 billion streams worldwide, while also selling more than 11 million concert tickets and earning over 40 awards from organizations such as the ACA, ACM, AMA, CMA, and People's Choice. Rascal Flatts also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. As a producer, DeMarcus has worked with acts including Chicago, Ronnie Dunn, Kix Brooks, Shenandoah, and Reba. Scheff joined Chicago at age 23, replacing Peter Cetera, and debuted as lead vocalist on the single "25 or 6 to 4," followed by "Will You Still Love Me," which reached No. 3 on the pop charts. Scheff performed Chicago's classic hits live across four decades. Ferrone, drummer for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and a former member of Average White Band, has recorded and performed with artists such as Duran Duran, Stevie Nicks, Slash, Chaka Khan, Eric Clapton, Bee Gees, and Johnny Cash.
Generation Radio was formed during the global pandemic, with the project taking shape as the members collaborated remotely. The supergroup released its debut album, "Generation Radio," through Frontiers Music Srl. The self-titled album blends melodic rock, pop-infused tracks, and adult contemporary ballads, drawing on the diverse musical backgrounds of its members. The follow-up album, "Take 2," continues to showcase the band's signature sound, led by DeMarcus and Scheff. The group has toured extensively, with DeMarcus also participating in Rascal Flatts' Life is a Highway Tour and Scheff joining the Happy Together Tour.
Generation Radio's live performances feature a mix of original music and classic hits from the members' previous bands, offering audiences a comprehensive rock and country music experience. The band emphasizes mutual respect for each other's musical histories and a shared passion for performing live. With two albums and an active touring schedule, Generation Radio demonstrates the lasting appeal of classic rock, performed by musicians with deep roots in the genre.
