Gary Quesenberry

Gary Quesenberry is an author, Army veteran, and retired Federal Air Marshal whose career in national security and law enforcement spans nearly three decades. Quesenberry enlisted in the United States Army at age 17, serving in the 7th Infantry Division as an artilleryman during Operation Desert Storm. After leaving the Army, he began his law enforcement career with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, working as a correctional officer and Special Operations Response Team member at FCI Beckley in West Virginia and United States Penitentiary Atwater in California. Following the events of September 11, Quesenberry transitioned to the Federal Air Marshal Service, where he traveled internationally and focused on the study of violence and predatory behavior.

During his tenure with the Federal Air Marshal Service, Quesenberry worked in the Las Vegas Field Office and later as a training instructor at the William J. Hughes Technical Center in Atlantic City. He also served as acting assistant to the special agent in charge for the Physical Skills Branch of the Federal Air Marshal Service Training Division. As CEO of Quesenberry Personal Defense Training, he developed training courses on mental toughness, marksmanship, and defensive tactics. His background includes experience in both domestic and foreign counter-terrorism training, as well as work in the private and corporate sectors to promote situational awareness and personal safety.

Quesenberry is known for the "HEADS-UP" book series on situational awareness, with each title addressing specific aspects of personal safety for various audiences, including children, teens, and travelers. His nonfiction book, "Spotting Danger Before It Spots You," draws on his experience as a Federal Air Marshal and defensive tactics instructor to provide practical guidance on recognizing and responding to potential threats. Quesenberry is also the author of a fiction thriller series featuring protagonist Case Younger, including "Homecoming" and "Dead to Rights."

Quesenberry has appeared on television as a situational awareness expert, including two seasons of the History Channel series "Top Shot" and two seasons of "iCrime" with Elizabeth Vargas. His expertise in personal safety, resilience, and the psychology of danger is informed by extensive real-world experience in counter-terrorism and law enforcement.
