Fritz Lanman

Fritz Lanman is an entrepreneur, investor, and technology executive recognized for his contributions to the global fitness and wellness technology industry. Lanman began his career at Microsoft, advancing to Senior Director of Corporate Strategy, where he played a key role in major corporate transactions, including Microsoft's investment in Facebook. After his tenure at Microsoft, Lanman founded Livestar, a personalized recommendations app later acquired by Pinterest. He also co-founded Doppler Labs, an audio technology company. Both ClassPass and Doppler Labs were highlighted by Forbes as Next Billion Dollar Startups.

Lanman's involvement with ClassPass started as an investor before he transitioned into operational leadership. He led the Seed and Series A financing rounds and later served as Executive Chairman and CEO. During his leadership, Lanman guided ClassPass through strategic changes, including shifting from an unlimited subscription model to a credits-based system, aligning the platform's economics with studio partners. ClassPass achieved unicorn status following a major financing round and was later acquired by Mindbody Inc.

Lanman became CEO of Mindbody and subsequently led the formation of Playlist, the parent brand of Mindbody, Booker, and ClassPass. Playlist expanded its reach through a merger with EGYM, a company specializing in smart fitness technology, AI-enabled workout programming, and corporate wellness solutions. This consolidation established Playlist as a leading full-stack fitness and wellness operating system, serving tens of thousands of businesses and millions of users across more than 30 countries.

In addition to his executive roles, Lanman is an active angel investor in the technology sector, having invested in the seed rounds of over 70 companies, including Square, Pinterest, Wish, Flexe, EasyPost, and inDinero, with successful exits in several ventures. He was named one of Fast Company's "Most Creative People in Business." Lanman has discussed his personal connection to ClassPass's mission, having lost over 70 pounds using the service.
