Frederick Richard

Frederick Richard is a gymnast recognized for his achievements in artistic gymnastics and his efforts to promote the sport. Richard began gymnastics at age 4, inspired by his older sister. He trained at Massachusetts Elite Gymnastics Academy and attended Stoughton High School before enrolling at the University of Michigan, where he studied film and media. Under coach Tom Fontecchio, Richard qualified for the junior U.S. national team three consecutive times through the Future Stars program. He became a two-time junior U.S. all-around champion and a Junior Pan American All-Around Champion before advancing to the senior level.

At the collegiate level, Richard won NCAA Championships in the all-around, parallel bars, and high bar as a freshman, and placed second on floor exercise and with the Michigan team. He continued to secure multiple NCAA all-around titles during his collegiate career. Richard achieved international recognition at the World Championships, becoming the first American man in over a decade to win an all-around medal and the youngest American gymnast to earn an individual world medal in men's competition.

Richard contributed to the U.S. men's gymnastics team earning a bronze medal at the Olympic Games, the team's first medal in the event in over a decade. He posted the top team scores on floor exercise, parallel bars, and horizontal bar. Richard also participated in the Gold Over America Tour with Simone Biles and other Olympic teammates, marking the first time gymnasts from the U.S. men's national team joined the tour. He later won his first all-around national title at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships in Phoenix, Arizona.

Outside of competition, Richard is known for his "Frederick Flips" brand and his presence as a social media creator. He produces content for platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, including the series "D1 v D1." Richard has built a large following and uses his platform to advocate for men's gymnastics and increase its visibility. He identifies as an athlete, CEO, influencer, and YouTuber, drawing inspiration from figures such as Muhammad Ali and Michael Jordan. Richard continues to contribute to the growth of men's gymnastics through both his athletic and entrepreneurial endeavors.
