Fred Hoiberg

Fred Hoiberg has a long-standing relationship with collegiate and professional basketball, which has spanned from player to coach. His coaching journey began with Iowa State, where he served as the head coach from 2010 to 2015. Notably, under his leadership, the team won Big 12 tournament championships in 2014 and 2015. This notable success led to Hoiberg's number, 32, being retired in honor of his contributions to the team. Furthermore, Hoiberg proved his coaching capabilities by becoming the fastest coach in Iowa State history to reach 100 wins.

In 2015, Hoiberg transitioned to a professional setting, taking the reins as the head coach of the Chicago Bulls. His tenure, which spanned through to 2018. However, in 2019, Hoiberg returned to the college basketball scene, becoming the head coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers men's basketball team. Hoiberg's excellence as a coach continued to shine as he led the team to a College Basketball Crown victory in 2025.

Hoiberg's coaching style and achievements have been recognized with numerous awards. In 2024, he was named the Jim Phelan National Coach of the Year. In addition, he was named the Big 12 Coach of the Year in 2012 and the Big Ten Coach of the Year twice, in 2024 and 2026. His contract with Nebraska was extended in March 2024 and again in 2026, with a three-year extension carrying him through the 2031-32 season.
