Frankie Ballard

Frankie Ballard is a country-rock singer, songwriter and guitarist known for blending blues influences with modern country. Born in Battle Creek, Michigan, he developed an early love for music singing Elvis Presley songs with his father before balancing athletics and music in his youth. Though he initially pursued baseball, Ballard turned his focus to music in his late teens, honing his guitar skills and performing in regional blues bands.

Ballard gained early industry attention after winning Kenny Chesney’s “Next Big Star” competition in 2008, which led to opening tour dates and subsequent publishing and recording deals in Nashville. He released his self-titled debut album in 2011, followed by “Sunshine & Whiskey” in 2014, which marked a commercial breakthrough with No. 1 singles including “Helluva Life,” “Sunshine & Whiskey,” and “Young & Crazy.” The success of the album established him as a rising force in country music with a distinctively soulful, guitar-driven sound.

Continuing to evolve artistically, Ballard released “El Rio” in 2016, an album that leaned further into his blues and rock influences while showcasing a more personal and experimental approach.
