Frank Beamer

Frank Beamer, a retired American college football coach, is most recognized for his tenure with the Virginia Tech Hokies. His career at Virginia Tech was marked with significant success, including an overall record of 238–121–2, three Big East championships, and four ACC titles. Beamer's commitment to the game also saw him lead his team to 23 consecutive bowl games from 1993 until his retirement in 2015. His last game, a 55–52 win over Tulsa in the "Independence Bowl" on December 26, 2015, solidified his legacy as a committed and successful coach.

Beamer's accomplishments have been well recognized in the football community. He has received numerous coaching awards, including AFCA Coach of the Year, Associated Press Coach of the Year, and the Paul "Bear" Bryant Award. In 2019, he was named the Paul “Bear” Bryant Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, and was also ranked among College Football 150's Top 25 Coaches in Bowl History. Further recognition came in 2018 when Beamer was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.

Even after retirement, Beamer's influence in the world of college football continues. He currently serves as a special assistant to the athletic director at Virginia Tech. His contributions to Virginia Tech football are highlighted in his book "Let me be Frank: My Life at Virginia Tech". His legacy at Virginia Tech has been honored through various gestures like the renaming of Spring Road to 'Beamer Way' and the unveiling of a bronze statue in his honor in 2018.
