Fleetwood Mac

Fleetwood Mac is an iconic rock band widely regarded as one of the most influential acts in popular music history. The band achieved global commercial and critical success with the 1977 album Rumours, which became one of the best-selling albums of all time and helped define the sound of late 1970s rock and pop.

Rumours was notable not only for its musical quality but also for the emotional turmoil surrounding its creation. Relationship breakups within the band shaped much of the album’s lyrical content, particularly involving Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, and the McVie marriage dissolution between Christine McVie and John McVie, along with tensions involving drummer Mick Fleetwood. Despite the interpersonal conflicts, the album produced several enduring hits and became a cultural landmark.

Over the decades, Fleetwood Mac experienced multiple lineup changes while maintaining its signature blend of rock, pop and folk-influenced songwriting. The band’s most commercially successful and widely recognized lineup included Nicks, Buckingham, Christine McVie, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie.

Fleetwood Mac is considered finished as an active touring band following the death of keyboardist and vocalist Christine McVie in November 2022, according to Stevie Nicks and Mick Fleetwood. While members continue solo projects, a reunion is deemed unlikely because the band feels it cannot move forward without McVie.
