Fidji Simo

Fidji Simo is a French-American business leader and technologist whose career spans some of the most influential technology companies of the past two decades. She is currently CEO of Applications at OpenAI, where she leads product, operations, and finance, shaping the company’s commercial strategy and path to sustainable growth.

Previously, Fidji served as CEO and Chair of Instacart, where she led the company to profitability and a successful public listing, reinforcing its position as a leader in grocery delivery and e-commerce. Her leadership is widely recognized for balancing operational rigor with product innovation at scale.

Prior to Instacart, Fidji spent a decade at Meta (then Facebook), where she rose to Vice President and Head of the Facebook App. In this role, she oversaw flagship products including News Feed, Video, Stories, Marketplace, and advertising, playing a central role in the platform’s global growth and monetization. She began her career at eBay, focusing on strategy in local commerce and classifieds.

Beyond her corporate work, Fidji is deeply engaged in healthcare innovation. She co-founded the Metrodora Institute and serves as President of the Metrodora Foundation, advancing research and treatment for complex neuroimmune disorders.

She has also served on the boards of Shopify and Cirque du Soleil, among others.

Born in Sète, Fidji was the first in her family to graduate from high school. She earned a Master in Management from HEC Paris, completing her final year at UCLA Anderson School of Management.
