Fidji Simo

Fidji Simo is a French-American business leader and visionary technologist whose career has spanned some of the most transformative companies of the last two decades. She is currently the CEO of Applications at OpenAI, where she leads product, operations, and finance to drive the company’s commercial strategy and its path toward profitability.

Before joining OpenAI, Fidji served as the CEO and Chair of Instacart. Under her leadership, Instacart achieved profitability and went public, solidifying its place as a leader in the grocery delivery and e-commerce space. Her ability to scale operations while balancing innovation and financial discipline has made her one of the most respected executives in technology.

Fidji’s career also includes a decade at Facebook (now Meta), where she held a series of leadership roles that culminated in her serving as Vice President and Head of the Facebook App. In this role, she oversaw many of the company’s core products, including News Feed, Video, Stories, Marketplace, and advertising. Her work was instrumental in Facebook’s user growth and monetization strategies during a critical period in the company’s history. Prior to Facebook, she began her career at eBay, working on the strategy team with a focus on local commerce and classified advertising.

Beyond her corporate leadership, Fidji is deeply committed to healthcare innovation. She co-founded the Metrodora Institute, a medical clinic and research center dedicated to treating and understanding complex neuroimmune disorders, and she serves as President of the Metrodora Foundation. Born in Sète, France, Fidji was the first in her family to graduate from high school. She went on to earn a Master in Management from HEC Paris, completing her final year at UCLA Anderson School of Management.
