Fidji Simo

Fidji Simo is a French-American technology executive recognized for her leadership in Silicon Valley's technology and artificial intelligence sectors. Simo holds a Master in Management from HEC Paris, completing her final year at UCLA Anderson School of Management. She began her career at eBay, focusing on strategy in local commerce and classifieds, before joining Facebook. At Meta, formerly Facebook, Simo advanced to Vice President and Head of the Facebook App, overseeing core products such as News Feed, Video, Stories, Marketplace, and advertising. She played a significant role in the platform's global growth and monetization, including the development and launch of video initiatives such as Facebook Live and Watch.

Simo later served as CEO and Chair of Instacart, where she led the company to profitability and a public offering, establishing its position in grocery delivery and e-commerce. She joined the OpenAI board and transitioned to lead product, business, technology, and engineering functions as CEO of Applications, later becoming CEO of AGI Deployment. In this role, Simo oversaw the expansion of OpenAI's consumer products, including the launch of "ChatGPT Health," a service integrating medical records and wellness apps to provide personalized health insights and support for clinical appointments.

In addition to her corporate leadership, Simo co-founded ChronicleBio, a biomedical research company focused on neuroimmune disorders, and serves as president of the nonprofit Complex Disorders Alliance. She launched the Arts in the Age of AI residency program in partnership with Villa Albertine, supporting artists who incorporate artificial intelligence into their work. Simo also co-founded Women in Product, a nonprofit organization advancing the careers of women in technology and advocating for equal representation in product management.

Simo has been featured on Fortune's Most Powerful Women in Business list, CNBC's Changemakers list, and was named Executive of the Year by San Francisco Business Times. She was included in Time Magazine's TIME100 AI list. Simo delivered the commencement address at HEC Paris, titled "The Golden Age of Creation," where she discussed creativity, artificial intelligence, and resilience in technology leadership.

After an extended medical leave for a neuroimmune condition, Simo transitioned from her full-time role as CEO of AGI Deployment to a part-time advisory position at OpenAI. She has spoken publicly about managing chronic illness while leading in the technology industry, contributing to ongoing conversations about resilience and leadership in artificial intelligence and technology.
