Felix Rosenqvist

Felix Rosenqvist is a Swedish professional racing driver whose career spans some of the most prestigious motorsport series worldwide. Before establishing himself in American open-wheel racing, Rosenqvist built a strong foundation in European and international competition. He claimed the European Formula 3 Championship title with 13 victories, 24 podiums, and 17 pole positions. His extended Formula 3 career led him to become the most successful Formula 3 racer of all time. Rosenqvist also captured victories in major international events, including the Masters of Formula 3 and the Macau Grand Prix.

Rosenqvist transitioned to Formula E, where he earned race wins and established himself among the series' top drivers, including winning the first race at the Berlin ePrix, marking the first victory for both him and his team.

Rosenqvist signed with Chip Ganassi Racing for the IndyCar Series and went on to win Rookie of the Year honors after finishing sixth in the championship standings. He won his first IndyCar race at the REV Group Grand Prix at Road America. His career has included significant challenges, such as a harrowing Detroit accident described as the most violent of his career, caused by a suspected electrical glitch that produced a stuck throttle. With no way to stop or slow his car, Rosenqvist crashed into a tire barrier with enough force to move the retaining wall. He was taken to the hospital for further checks but sustained no serious injuries and was released the following day. The incident highlighted both the dangers of motorsport and Rosenqvist's resilience—qualities that have defined his path.

After several seasons with Arrow McLaren, Meyer Shank Racing announced that Rosenqvist would drive the No. 60 Honda in a multi-year deal. Early in his tenure, Rosenqvist led a significant uptick in performance at Meyer Shank Racing, starting near the front of the field at St. Petersburg and taking pole at Long Beach, which gave Meyer Shank Racing its first IndyCar pole position. He continued to build momentum, qualifying for the Firestone Fast Six at the Indianapolis 500, qualifying fifth for the race, and finishing fourth.

Rosenqvist's persistence culminated in one of the most dramatic moments in motorsport history when he won the Indianapolis 500 in the closest finish in the race's century-plus history, making a last-lap pass on David Malukas to win by 0.0233 of a second. He became the fifth driver to win the "500" with a last-lap pass and the third Swede to win "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing," joining Kenny Brack and Marcus Ericsson. Rosenqvist and Meyer Shank Racing also won a record $4.34 million in prize money. The victory marked his second in 120 career IndyCar starts and his first on an oval.

Rosenqvist spent years in IndyCar demonstrating talent and pace, though often hindered by timing that kept his résumé from matching his ability. His win at the 110th Indianapolis 500—the closest finish in race history—provided a career-defining victory, decided by the slimmest margin the event has ever seen. Reflecting after the race, Rosenqvist noted, "This was my eighth start in this race," and acknowledged that fans who approached him knew his story and could relate to it.
