Fab Morvan

Fab Morvan is a French singer, dancer, rapper, and performer recognized as one half of the pop group Milli Vanilli. After relocating to Germany at age 18, Morvan worked as a dancer and model and was influenced by funk, soul, hip-hop, and pop music. He met Rob Pilatus in a Munich nightclub, and together they formed a rock and soul group that attracted the attention of music producer Frank Farian, who signed them to Milli Vanilli.

Milli Vanilli's debut album, "All or Nothing," was released in Europe and later repackaged for the United States as "Girl You Know It's True" by Arista Records. The album spent eight weeks at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart and produced three number-one singles, establishing Milli Vanilli as a leading act in pop music. The group received three American Music Awards and the Grammy Award for Best New Artist. However, controversy emerged when it was revealed that Morvan and Pilatus had not sung on the recordings. Farian had used studio musicians for the vocals, and Morvan and Pilatus were excluded from recording sessions. When they requested to sing on the next album, Farian disclosed the lip-synching arrangement to the media. As a result, Milli Vanilli's Grammy was rescinded, Arista Records dropped the group, and their album was removed from the label's catalogue.

Following the scandal, Morvan and Pilatus attempted a comeback as "Rob and Fab," performing their own music. Morvan continued his career as a solo artist, performing in Los Angeles and serving as a mid-day host on KIIS-FM. He released his solo album, "Love Revolution," producing, recording, writing, and singing on all tracks. Morvan later formed the band Fabulous Addiction and toured throughout Europe, performing at festivals and live venues.

Documentary and biographical films, including "Milli Vanilli" and "Girl You Know It's True," have explored the group's story. Morvan contributed as a co-producer to "Girl You Know It's True," attended the world premiere in Munich, and performed the title song at the Bavarian Film Awards with the film's lead actors. Over time, public perception of Milli Vanilli shifted, with some viewing Morvan and Pilatus as victims of music industry practices.

Morvan co-wrote the memoir "You Know It's True: The Real Story of Milli Vanilli" with Parisa Rose, which details his experiences with Farian and Pilatus. The audio version of the memoir received a Grammy nomination in the Best Audio Book, Narration & Storytelling Recording category. Morvan has discussed his experiences within the music industry and continues to perform, record, and speak at events, including on the college lecture circuit.
