Evie West

Evie Lastra West is known for her personal transformation and work in law enforcement and community engagement. Her early life included time as a gang member in California and two unplanned pregnancies as a teenager. Her younger years were marked by criminal activity, illegal drugs, and near-death experiences. A pivotal turning point occurred when she chose life for her second unborn child, a decision that significantly changed the course of her future.

West relocated to Cleveland, Tennessee, where she attended Lee University and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Intercultural Studies with a minor in Bible. She later obtained a master's degree in public safety from Tennessee Tech University. West has served as a police officer for the City of Cleveland, advancing to Sergeant over the Community Relations Unit and becoming the first female Police Captain in her city.

Her story is detailed in her book, "Revolving Choices: Playing Roulette with Life," which chronicles her experiences as a young Hispanic woman searching for identity and the impact of her choices. The book explores themes of resilience, faith, and personal growth.

West continues to serve her community as a police officer and contributes to organizations such as Ocoee Regional Multicultural Services, Keep America Beautiful, and Habitat for Humanity. She is also a volunteer at New Hope Pregnancy Care Center in Cleveland, Tennessee, where she advocates for pro-life issues and supports adoption as an option.

West has shared her story at schools, churches, and community events. As a keynote speaker, she addresses topics including women's rights, civil rights, social activism, reproductive rights, and overcoming adversity. Her journey from the streets of California to a leadership role in law enforcement and public speaking has established her as a credible voice on resilience, redemption, and the value of human life.
