Eriko Miyagawa

Eriko Miyagawa is an Emmy Award–winning film and television producer based in Tokyo, widely respected for her ability to bring Japanese stories to global audiences with authenticity and cultural sensitivity.

Born in Kyoto and raised across multiple countries—including Indonesia, Dubai, and Thailand—Eriko developed a deep understanding of cross-cultural communication. She holds a degree in Culture and Politics from Georgetown University and an MFA in Film Producing from the University of Southern California.

Her career began with a pivotal role on the set of Kill Bill: Volume 1, where she served as an interpreter and cultural liaison. This experience led to collaborations on major international productions such as The Kite Runner, Lost in Translation, Babel, Midway, and The Flowers of War.

Eriko played a significant role as a cultural producer on Martin Scorsese’s Silence, managing the project’s Japanese components over a decade of development. Her expertise in casting, locations, and language contributed to the film’s deep authenticity.

Most recently, she served as co-producer on the acclaimed FX series Shōgun, guiding historical and linguistic accuracy throughout the production. Her work on the series was instrumental in its critical success and recognition with multiple Emmy nominations and awards.
