Eric Kripke is a television writer, producer, and showrunner known for his contributions to genre television, including horror, fantasy, and science fiction. Kripke graduated from the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts, where his short film "Truly Committed" received an audience choice award at the Slamdance Film Festival. He co-wrote the horror film "Boogeyman," produced by Sam Raimi, before creating the television series "Supernatural" for The WB, later The CW.
"Supernatural" follows brothers Sam and Dean Winchester as they confront supernatural threats. Kripke developed the series with a five-year narrative arc and served as showrunner for the first five seasons. Under his leadership, "Supernatural" became the longest-running genre show in American television history, recognized for its blend of mythology, urban folklore, and family drama.
After "Supernatural," Kripke created the post-apocalyptic drama "Revolution" for NBC, produced by Bad Robot and directed by Jon Favreau, and co-created the time-travel series "Timeless" with Shawn Ryan. Kripke developed "The Boys" for Amazon Prime Video, a superhero satire based on the comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The series explores themes of power and corruption and has received critical acclaim, including an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Drama Series. "The Boys" has won multiple Primetime Emmy Awards and Critics' Choice Super Awards. Kripke also oversees the expanding universe of "The Boys," including the spin-off series "Gen V" and the prequel "Vought Rising." His work continues to influence the landscape of television writing and production, particularly in the fields of horror, fantasy, and superhero drama.
