Elissa Nadworny Biography
Elissa Nadworny is an award-winning correspondent for NPR, known for her compelling coverage of reproductive rights, international conflicts, and the personal stories that emerge from them. Her reporting spans from covering the war in Ukraine to the conflict in Israel and Gaza, with a special focus on how these global events impact children and families.
In addition to her fieldwork, Elissa frequently serves as a guest host for NPR programs such as All Things Considered, Weekend Edition, and special election broadcasts. Her storytelling has earned her numerous honors, including a James Beard Award, an Edward R. Murrow Award for innovation, and several Gracie Awards. She was also a Livingston Award finalist for her work highlighting incarcerated college students earning degrees behind bars.
Before joining NPR in 2014, Elissa reported from the White House for Bloomberg News. She holds a bachelor’s degree in documentary film from Skidmore College and a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.
Originally from Erie, Pennsylvania, Elissa brings empathy, clarity, and a deep curiosity to her work, shining a light on stories that might otherwise go untold.
