Dónal Finn

Dónal Finn is an Irish actor recognized for his work across stage, film, and television. He received a three-year scholarship at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art through the Overstall Charitable Trust, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in acting. After completing school, Finn worked for a year in a supermarket to save for auditions and drama school application fees, demonstrating early commitment to his craft.

Finn made his stage debut as Ivan in "Chasing Bono" at Soho Theatre, followed by a role as Gabriel in "Albion" at Almeida Theatre. He was cast as Mat Cauthon in the second season of "The Wheel of Time," succeeding Barney Harris. The series, based on Robert Jordan's fantasy novels, is a flagship production for Amazon Prime Video. Finn's portrayal of Mat Cauthon established him as a central figure in the series, and he continued in the role through the third season. With a background in theater, Finn rehearsed scenes for the show in a manner similar to stage productions, which contributed to his performance.

Outside "The Wheel of Time," Finn has appeared as Nettly in Netflix's "The Witcher," Kurt in "Cursed," and Eoin McGonigal in the BBC drama SAS: Rogue Heroes. His film credits include roles in "Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore," "How to Build a Girl," and "Four Letters of Love." He was named one of the inaugural Rising Stars of Ireland by Screen International and Screen Ireland.

In theater, Finn originated the role of Orpheus in the West End production of "Hadestown" at Lyric Theatre, London, a transfer of the Tony Award-winning musical by Anaïs Mitchell. He is also featured in the cast recording album "Hadestown: Live from London."

Finn's additional television work includes portraying James Moriarty in the Amazon Prime Video series "Young Sherlock" and Mr. Hayward in "The Other Bennet Sister" for BBC One. His career spans blockbuster television, major theatrical productions, and film, establishing Finn as a versatile performer in the entertainment industry.
