Dylan Harper

Dylan Harper is a professional basketball player and guard for the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA. A consensus five-star recruit and one of the top players in his class, Harper established a strong foundation before reaching the professional level. He was named Boys Basketball Player of the Year by NJ.com as a junior after averaging 24.9 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game. During his senior season, he averaged 22.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game while leading his team to a 29–3 record and a NJSIAA Non-Public A state championship. Harper was also named McDonald's All-American MVP, becoming the first player to achieve this in Rutgers history.

Harper committed to playing college basketball for Rutgers over offers from Duke, Kansas, Indiana, and Auburn, and was the highest-rated recruit in the program's history. As a freshman, he played in 29 games, averaging 19.4 points on 48.4 percent shooting and set Rutgers' freshman scoring record with 564 points. He was named third-team All-Big Ten and to the all-freshman team. After one collegiate season, Harper declared for the NBA Draft and was selected with the second overall pick by the San Antonio Spurs.

Harper made his NBA debut coming off the bench with 15 points, four rebounds, and two assists in a 125–92 win over the Dallas Mavericks. A calf injury against the Phoenix Suns sidelined him for 10 games, but after returning he scored a career-high 24 points in a 134–119 victory over the Indiana Pacers. Across 69 regular-season games, he averaged 11.8 points, 3.9 assists, and 3.4 rebounds while adapting to the demands of the NBA and taking on an increasingly important role in San Antonio's rotation. Harper's efficient and versatile play earned him a spot on the NBA All-Rookie First Team. He is the 10th player in San Antonio Spurs history to receive First Team honors and the 14th overall Spur to earn a spot on an NBA All-Rookie Team.

During the Spurs' playoff run, Harper elevated his game, demonstrating the confidence and versatility that made him a highly sought-after prospect during his draft class. In Game 3 of the Western Conference First Round against the Portland Trail Blazers, he recorded 27 points and 10 rebounds in a 120–108 win. Harper became just the third rookie in Finals history to score 10 or more points in any quarter in the play-by-play era. As the son of five-time NBA champion Ron Harper, Dylan Harper grew up around professional basketball, but has focused on establishing his own identity in the league. His poise and maturity as a 20-year-old rookie have made him a notable figure in the NBA, competing on one of the sport's biggest stages.
