Dustin Owen

Dustin Owen, widely known as “D.O.,” is a seasoned mortgage professional, industry leader, and the creator and host of The Loan Officer Podcast (TLOP). With more than two decades of experience, he began his career in 2004 as a rookie loan officer and quickly established himself as a top producer, funding over 100 loans annually within just two years. His drive and expertise propelled him into leadership, where he scaled one branch from $40 million in annual production to seven branches generating $70 million per month. Over the years, Owen has built a reputation as a dynamic sales executive and growth strategist, earning the prestigious Certified Mortgage Banker (CMB) designation and graduating from the Mortgage Bankers Association’s Future Leaders Program in 2022.

In 2024, Owen was named Senior Vice President of Growth and Division Sales Leader at Lower, a fast-growing digital multichannel lender based in Columbus, Ohio. Prior to that, he spent more than 16 years at Waterstone Mortgage, serving as Vice President of Eastern Division Sales. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in increasing production volume from $40 million annually to more than $1 billion in annual originations, solidifying his standing as a respected voice in mortgage sales and leadership.

Outside of his executive responsibilities, Owen is best known for founding The Loan Officer Podcast, which has grown into the top podcast in the mortgage space, drawing more than a million downloads each year. The show blends sales strategies, industry insights, and personal development, delivered in an engaging and approachable style that listeners often compare to “if Joe Rogan and Dave Ramsey had a baby.” Building on this success, he launched TLOP Originator Coaching, which is recognized as one of the most valuable coaching and training platforms for mortgage originators in the country.

A graduate of the University of Central Florida and a devoted UCF football fan, he lives in Winter Springs, Florida. Beyond his career, he is a family man, husband, and father who also enjoys traveling and competing in Ironman races. Known for his energy, authenticity, and commitment to helping others succeed, he continues to inspire professionals across the mortgage industry while leading growth and innovation at the highest levels.
