Dr. Mani Golparvar-Fard

Dr. Mani Golparvar-Fard is a renowned academic, technologist, and entrepreneur specializing in digital construction and intelligent infrastructure systems. He is a professor at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, with joint appointments in Civil Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology Entrepreneurship. He also leads the Real-time and Automated Monitoring and Control (RAAMAC) Lab, where his research focuses on using computer vision, machine learning, and BIM to advance real-time project analytics and automation in construction.

Dr. Golparvar-Fard earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering along with a master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Illinois. He also holds degrees in civil engineering from the University of British Columbia and Iran University of Science and Technology. Before returning to Illinois, he served as an assistant professor at Virginia Tech.

He is the co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer of Reconstruct Inc., a cutting-edge technology company that combines reality capture, BIM, and AI to enable predictive construction analytics. The platform is widely used across the industry to improve project performance and reduce delays and cost overruns.

His groundbreaking work has earned him numerous awards, including the ASCE Walter L. Huber Civil Engineering Research Prize, the Dan Halpin Award for Construction Management, the James R. Croes Medal, and recognition among ENR’s National Top 20 Under 40. He is also a named inventor on several patents and serves on editorial boards of major academic journals.
