Dr. Jeff Shapiro

Dr. Jeff Shapiro has trained athletes and the public by teaching exercise physiology, nutrition physiology and reduced dependence on pills. A Yale and Stanford graduate, he served as the medical director of the San Francisco Marathon, consulted for CBS 60 Minutes "The Toughest Race," co-produced "Ultra Running" for The Late Show, and lectured at Google, Merrill Lynch, SanDisk, and others.

As a keynote, corporate and athletic speaker for 30 years, Shapiro, has motivated audiences to improve their health through science. In his lectures, Training Well for Life, Shapiro discusses exercise, nutrition, drugs, supplements, happiness, aging and surgery.

After receiving athletic and academic awards at Yale and Stanford, Shapiro has coached those seeking peak wellness, appeared on ABC News 20/20 and served as a consultant for CBS News 60 Minutes and The Late Show with David Letterman.

With no sponsors and no products to promote, Shapiro tells the truth regarding marketing versus science. “If I can convince a single person to make a healthier choice, it makes my day job (in the operating room) easier.”

As the founder of Organs R Us in 1995, Shapiro has promoted the need for organ donors through athletics. During the Golden Gate Relay, the world’s largest organ donation run/walk/bike, teams of twelve travel 190 miles from Napa to Santa Cruz, crossing the Golden Gate Bridge at midnight supporting 125,000 Americans waiting for organs.
