Wilson transitioned into interior design after founding a handyman business specializing in decorative paint finishes for high-end homes, drawing on his early experiences in theater set design. Wilson joined "Trading Spaces" as one of its lead designers, earning the nickname "Dangerous Doug" for his bold and often polarizing room transformations.
