Doreen Lorenzo

Doreen Lorenzo is recognized as one of the first female leaders in the modern business of product design and innovation. Lorenzo has led global creative firms and advised Fortune 100 companies on design and innovation strategy. Her career spans film and video production to executive roles in global design consultancy, demonstrating an ability to connect creative vision with business objectives.

Lorenzo spent 16 years at frog design, including seven years as president, where she directed company strategy, managed worldwide operations, and guided the firm through significant growth. She became president after leading the company's first digital business. Lorenzo is credited with helping transform frog from a boutique design firm into a global consultancy. Following her time at frog, she served as president of Quirky, overseeing product development and operations. She also co-founded Vidlet, a mobile video insights firm, further establishing her expertise in design innovation and entrepreneurship.

Lorenzo joined the design faculty at the College of Fine Arts at The University of Texas at Austin to lead a campus-wide initiative integrating design thinking into the university curriculum. The success of this program led to her appointment as assistant dean of the School of Design and Creative Technologies, which has become the fastest growing school in the College of Fine Arts. In academia, Lorenzo has advocated for reforms to make design education more equitable, including eliminating the portfolio requirement, which increased applications and diversity among students and faculty.

She is a columnist for Fast Company, writing the "Designing Women" column, which profiles women in the design industry.
