Donna Barton Brothers is a prominent figure in horse racing, recognized for her achievements as both a jockey and a broadcaster. Brothers comes from a family of riders, including her siblings and her mother, who was among the first women to be licensed as a jockey in the United States. Brothers began her professional career as a jockey and became one of D. Wayne Lukas's first-call jockeys, riding numerous stakes winners. She retired as the second leading female jockey in the United States by money earned, with 1,130 wins and more than $18 million in purse earnings.

Among her significant victories, Brothers won the Grade 3 Kentucky Cup Juvenile Stakes aboard Boston Harbor and rode Serena's Song to a second-place finish in the filly's final race. After retiring from riding, Brothers transitioned to broadcasting, starting as an interviewer at Fair Grounds Race Course and later serving as an on-air racing analyst for Churchill Downs. She joined NBC Sports as a reporter, covering major events such as the Breeders' Cup and Triple Crown races, often conducting post-race interviews with winning jockeys from horseback.
