Donald Mustard

Donald Mustard is a director, producer, writer, and game designer known for his contributions to interactive entertainment and video game development. Mustard is the former chief creative officer at Epic Games and co-founder of Chair Entertainment. He is recognized as the co-creator of "Fortnite" and served as creative director for "Shadow Complex" and the "Infinity Blade" trilogy.

Mustard attended Brigham Young University, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in film. During college, he produced several short films that combined computer graphics and live action, which led to freelance work at visual effects studios including Industrial Light & Magic, Rhythm & Hues Studios, and Digital Domain.

Alongside his brother and Ryan Holmes, Mustard founded Chair Entertainment, where he was creative director for the company's first game, "Undertow." After Epic Games acquired Chair, Mustard continued as creative director, leading development on "Shadow Complex" and the "Infinity Blade" trilogy. He demonstrated "Infinity Blade" at an Apple Special Event, highlighting advancements in mobile gaming technology.

Mustard later became worldwide creative director at Epic Games, overseeing the launch of "Fortnite Battle Royale." As the project's loremaster, he integrated characters from major media franchises such as Star Wars and Marvel. Under his leadership as chief creative officer, "Fortnite" grew into a global platform with hundreds of millions of players and significant revenue. Mustard directed collaborations with entertainment figures, including in-game concerts by Marshmello and Travis Scott, and helped develop live events and co-wrote "Fortnite" comics with Marvel and DC.

He accepted awards for "Fortnite" at The Game Awards and the Annual D.I.C.E. Awards. Mustard has also made cameo appearances in films including "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker," "The Matrix Resurrections," and "Avengers: Endgame."

Mustard joined AGBO, an independent film studio led by Joe and Anthony Russo, as a partner. He collaborates with the Russo brothers on projects such as "Avengers: Doomsday" and "Avengers: Secret Wars." AGBO focuses on building original universes that bridge linear and interactive media, aligning with Mustard's commitment to advancing storytelling across video games, film, and transmedia entertainment.
