Diego Luna

Diego Angel Luna is a professional soccer player who plays as an attacking midfielder or winger for Major League Soccer club Real Salt Lake and the United States men's national team. Luna began playing organized soccer at age 5 with the Palo Alto Soccer Club, progressing through the San Jose Earthquakes Academy and Barcelona Residency Academy before joining USL Championship side El Paso Locomotive. During two seasons with El Paso, Luna made 41 appearances, scoring 13 goals and providing seven assists.

After joining Real Salt Lake, Luna continued his development, focusing on improving all aspects of his game. His growth as a player has been evident in his contributions on both ends of the field. In his third MLS season, Luna recorded eight goals and 12 assists, becoming only the second player in league history to achieve more than 20 goal contributions before turning 21. His performances contributed to Real Salt Lake's club-record 59-point season. Luna earned recognition as MLS Young Player of the Year and was selected for the MLS All-Star team and the CONCACAF Gold Cup Best XI.

Luna played a key role for the United States in the CONCACAF Gold Cup, scoring three goals and providing two assists, including a standout performance in the semifinal against Guatemala. He was named to the tournament's Best XI and received Man of the Match honors. Luna's resilience and commitment were highlighted during the U.S. Men's National Team's January Camp, where he assisted a goal despite sustaining a facial injury in a win against Costa Rica.

Luna has been featured in U.S. Soccer's World Cup marketing campaigns, and his omission from the World Cup roster was widely discussed in soccer media. With 18 appearances for the national team by age 22, Luna is recognized for his creative playmaking, defensive work rate, and mental toughness, making him a prominent figure in American soccer and Major League Soccer.
