Diego Boneta

Diego Andrés González Boneta is a Mexican actor, singer, producer, and author whose versatile career spans film, television, music, and literature. Born in Mexico City in 1990, he began performing as a child on the reality singing show “Código F.A.M.A.”, which led to roles in children’s telenovelas including “Alegrijes y Rebujos” and “Misión S.O.S.”. He gained broader international attention for his early U.S. television roles as Alex Santiago in “Pretty Little Liars” and Javier Luna in “90210”, blending music and acting. His first major film role came in “Rock of Ages” (2012), where he starred alongside Tom Cruise, Julianne Hough, and an all‑star cast.

Boneta achieved global recognition for portraying the Latin pop icon in “Luis Miguel: The Series” (2018‑2021), a Netflix biographical drama he also produced and for which he recorded music that contributed to a platinum companion album. He went on to star in films such as “Father of the Bride” (2022) and the romantic comedy “At Midnight” (2023), which he also produced.

Expanding his creative reach, Boneta published his debut novel, “The Undoing of Alejandro Velasco” (2025), a thriller set in San Miguel de Allende that Amazon Publishing released in English and Spanish and is being adapted into a television series with Boneta attached to star. He continues to develop ambitious projects through his production company Three Amigos, including the bilingual action series “El Gato” (working title) for Amazon Prime Video, in which he stars and produces.

Boneta’s recent dramatic work includes portraying Fidel Castro in the political drama “Killing Castro” (2025), co‑starring Al Pacino and Kendrick Sampson, marking a bold turn into more demanding historical roles. Based in Los Angeles, he continues to shape his multifaceted career with a focus on storytelling that crosses genres and platforms.
