Dick Wolfsie

Dick Wolfsie is an Emmy Award-winning television reporter, journalist, and humorist whose broadcast career has spanned more than four decades. Wolfsie transitioned from teaching to hosting television talk shows in Columbus, Boston, and Chicago, before joining "Good Morning New York" on WABC-TV. He later moved to Indianapolis to cohost WISH-TV's "Indianapolis Afternoon" and went on to create, produce, and host a morning talk show on WTHR-TV from Union Station in Indianapolis.

Wolfsie became a mainstay at WISH-TV, serving as a feature reporter on "Daybreak" and as a contributor to "Weekend Daybreak." The channel estimates that Wolfsie completed more than 7,000 reports during his tenure. As a broadcaster, he received numerous honors, including a Casper Award and two Emmys, and his video essays were nationally syndicated.

A notable chapter in Wolfsie's career was his partnership with Barney, a beagle who became his reporting companion for more than 13 years. Barney's popularity led to appearances on merchandise, and their adventures were chronicled in the book "Mornings with Barney."

Wolfsie has written 15 books and has contributed weekly humor columns to more than 35 newspapers. His titles include "Indiana Curiosities," "The Right Fluff," and "Deep Thoughts from a Shallow Mind." He is recognized for his contributions to journalism, television reporting, and humor writing.

Wolfsie was inducted into the Indiana Broadcasters Hall of Fame. He remains active as a public speaker and writer, continuing to engage audiences with his storytelling and humor.
