Diana Taurasi

Diana Taurasi is recognized for her significant impact on women's basketball, with a record of achievement spanning two decades of professional play. Taurasi was a top recruit in her class and earned national player of the year honors in high school before playing college basketball at the University of Connecticut under head coach Geno Auriemma. She led the Huskies to three consecutive NCAA championships and earned the Naismith Award for women's college basketball player of the year in back-to-back seasons. During Taurasi's tenure, Connecticut posted an overall mark of 139–8.

Taurasi was drafted by the Phoenix Mercury first overall in the WNBA Draft and was named WNBA Rookie of the Year. She played 20 seasons in the WNBA, spending her entire career with the Mercury. Taurasi contributed to three WNBA titles and earned one WNBA Most Valuable Player Award, two WNBA Finals MVP Awards, and five scoring titles. She was selected to 10 WNBA All-Star teams and 14 All-WNBA teams, including 10 first-team selections.

Taurasi is the WNBA all-time leader in points, three-pointers, field goals, and free throws. She became the first player in WNBA history to exceed 9,000 career points and reached the 10,000-point mark. Taurasi also became just the fifth player to reach 2,000 career assists, making her the only player in WNBA history to achieve both the 9,000 career points and 2,000 career assists milestone. Beyond the WNBA, she is the most decorated Olympic athlete in any team sport, winning six Olympic gold medals with the United States women's national basketball team. She also won three FIBA Women's World Cup gold medals and was named USA Basketball Female Athlete of the Year four times.

Taurasi was voted the WNBA's Greatest Player of All-Time by the league's fans. The Phoenix Mercury inducted Taurasi into their Ring of Honor and retired her No. 3 jersey. Her career continues to influence the growth and visibility of women's basketball, both in the WNBA and internationally.
