Diana Adams

Diana Adams (they/them) is the founder of a boutique LGBTQ family law and mediation firm based in New York City, serving primarily same-sex couples and non-nuclear families. Adams focuses on supporting the formation of healthy, stable families, including same-sex couples, platonic co-parents, polyamorous families, and different-sex couples, by facilitating conversations that lead to clear personal and legal agreements to protect family structures. Adams serves as a New York State representative for the national organization LBGT Family Law Institute of The National LGBT Bar Association, which brings together leaders in LGBTQ family law.

Adams speaks internationally on topics such as LGBTQI parenting, marriage alternatives, and the evolving structure of families. Adams is frequently interviewed as an expert on LGBTQ and nontraditional family structures, with appearances in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Atlantic, Huffington Post, New York Magazine, and on television programs including The View and MTV. Adams's public discussion of their own nontraditional family has contributed to their visibility in the field of LGBTQ family law and advocacy.

Adams has a background in social justice activism, focusing on feminist, LGBTQ, environmental, and anti-poverty issues. After graduating from law school, Adams worked on welfare policy reform for the New York City Human Resources Administration. Adams later served as Staff Attorney and Pro Bono Coordinator for the Brooklyn Bar Association Volunteer Lawyers Project, leading legal services for indigent Brooklyn residents in child custody, child support, divorce, domestic violence, and Civil Court debt collection cases, as well as supervising and training other attorneys.
