Devin Hester

Devin Hester is a former National Football League (NFL0 wide receiver and return specialist who is widely regarded as the greatest kick returner in football history. He became the first primarily return specialist inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, earning his place in the Class of 2024.

Born in Riviera Beach, Florida, Hester overcame a difficult childhood to become an elite high school athlete. He played college football at the University of Miami, where he established himself as an electrifying return specialist and defensive back. The Chicago Bears selected him in the second round of the 2006 NFL Draft.

Hester made an immediate impact, returning six kicks for touchdowns as a rookie, including a kickoff return for a touchdown in Super Bowl XLI. He became one of the NFL's most feared special-teams weapons and was selected to four Pro Bowls and named First-Team All-Pro three times. He ultimately set NFL records with 20 total return touchdowns—14 on punts and six on kickoffs.

Over an 11-year NFL career, Hester played for the Chicago Bears, Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens and Seattle Seahawks. He finished with 14 punt-return touchdowns, still an NFL record, along with 19,000-plus combined return yards and 16 receiving touchdowns.

After retiring from football, Hester has remained involved in the sport through broadcasting, appearances and youth football initiatives. He has also devoted significant attention to giving back to his community, including charitable work supporting children and families.
