Derrick Henry

Derrick Henry is recognized as a historically significant running back in American football, with achievements spanning high school, college, and professional levels. Nicknamed King Henry for his imposing style of play, Henry is the only player to have rushed for at least 2,000 yards in a season at the high school, college, and professional levels. He set the national high school football record for career rushing yards, surpassing Ken Hall's record that had stood for nearly 60 years.

At the University of Alabama, Henry delivered a standout junior season, breaking Herschel Walker's single-season college rushing yards record in the Southeastern Conference. He won the Heisman Trophy, the Doak Walker Award, the Maxwell Award, and the Walter Camp Award, and contributed to the Alabama Crimson Tide's College Football Playoff National Championship. Henry became just the third running back in SEC history to have four 200-yard games in a single season, joining Herschel Walker and Bo Jackson. His Heisman Trophy win was notable in an era largely dominated by quarterbacks.

Henry entered the NFL after his junior year and was selected in the second round by the Tennessee Titans. Initially a backup, he became the Titans' feature back and led the NFL in rushing yards and touchdowns in multiple seasons. Henry became the eighth player in NFL history to surpass 2,000 rushing yards in a single season and won the AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year Award. He was the first player to lead the NFL in rushing yards in consecutive seasons since LaDainian Tomlinson.

After eight seasons with the Titans, Henry joined the Baltimore Ravens, where he set multiple franchise records in his first season. He ran for 1,921 yards and 16 touchdowns, averaging 5.9 yards per carry, and earned a 93.5 rushing grade, the highest ever recorded in the Pro Football Focus era. Henry reached his 100th career touchdown and surpassed 10,000 career rushing yards, becoming the fifth player in NFL history to achieve both milestones. In the postseason, he set a Ravens franchise record for rushing yards in a postseason game with 186 yards and two touchdowns in a Wild Card round victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Henry signed a two-year contract extension with the Ravens. He is the NFL's active leader in career rushing yards and touchdowns, ranking tenth and fourth all-time, respectively. A five-time Pro Bowl selection and multiple-time All-Pro honoree, Henry is regarded as one of the most physically dominant running backs of his era. His career reflects a consistent work ethic, durability, and competitive drive, making him a prominent figure in professional football.
