Derek Seguin

Derek Seguin is a Montreal-based stand-up comedian, actor, host, and corporate facilitator known for his work on the international comedy circuit. Of mixed French Canadian and Irish descent, Seguin is recognized for comedy that explores the cultural differences between English Canada and French Canada, offering a sharp, bilingual perspective to audiences across the country and internationally. He has performed at the invitation-only Just for Laughs festival 11 times and has appeared at major comedy festivals including Vancouver, Halifax, Winnipeg, P.E.I., Sudbury, Moncton, and the Grand Rire du Québec Comedy Festival, along with several television appearances.

Seguin's festival performances include a gala set for HBO at Just for Laughs, where he received a standing ovation at Place des Arts. GQ Magazine's comedy editor noted that Seguin "stole one of the most star-studded gala shows" from host Whitney Cummings, then appeared in The Nasty Show and "proceeded to steal that too." Seguin won the Canadian Top Comic competition, presented by SiriusXM Canada in association with Just for Laughs, earning the title of Top Comic, a $15,000 prize, a guaranteed television spot at Just for Laughs, and his own one-man show at JFL42 in Toronto.

Beyond the festival circuit, Seguin has released the concert album "Newfie Octopus," a bestseller on CD Baby and iTunes. His album "PanDerek – 1st Wave" was nominated for a Juno Award. His televised appearances include performances at CBC Winnipeg and Halifax festivals, The Newfoundland Comedy Festival, the Grand Rire du Québec's Comedie Club series, and the Just for Laughs Comedy Special "Oh Canada!" Seguin has appeared on CBC Radio's "The Debaters" more than 25 times and recorded two episodes of CBC television's "The Debaters." He also collaborated with Mike Ward and Maxim Martin on "French Comedy Bastards," a touring show that introduced Québec-style comedy to anglophone audiences.

In addition to his comedy career, Seguin has over 10 years of experience in the corporate world, specializing in corporate communications. He has served as a project manager at several communications agencies, overseeing employee handbooks, recruitment campaigns, sales and marketing presentations, and a range of internal and external communications projects. Seguin has also received training in presentation and presenter coaching. Whether moderating a sales conference, facilitating a corporate objectives retreat, or managing discussions in an open forum, Seguin brings versatility and professional experience, delivering content in both of Canada's official languages.
