Deitrick Haddon

Deitrick Haddon is a gospel artist, songwriter, pianist, record producer, pastor, and actor whose career spans three decades and has influenced contemporary gospel music. Emerging from Detroit, Michigan, Haddon became known for progressive gospel styles, incorporating elements of classic soul and hip-hop, and using his music as a ministry to reach broader audiences. Raised in a church environment, Haddon preached his first sermon at age 11 and began directing the choir by 13, demonstrating an early commitment to faith and music.

Haddon's music career began with Tyscot Records and the formation of the choir group Voices of Unity, which released albums such as "Come into This House" and "Live the Life." The latter earned two Gospel Music Workshop of America Excellence Awards for New Artist of the Year—Urban Contemporary and Album of the Year—Urban Contemporary. Haddon has recorded more than 20 albums, with five reaching No. 1 on Billboard's Top Gospel Albums chart. His solo debut with Verity, "Lost & Found," blended contemporary gospel and R&B influences, featuring the single "Sinner's Prayer," which received significant radio play and propelled the album to No. 1 on Billboard's Top Gospel Albums chart. "Lost & Found" was also nominated for Best Contemporary Soul Gospel Album at the Grammy Awards.

Haddon achieved further chart success with albums including "Crossroads," "Revealed," "Church on the Moon," and "Masterpiece." He appeared on the syndicated series Soul Train, performing a single and the title track from "Crossroads." Haddon is a three-time Grammy Award nominee and a multiple Stellar Award winner, including Male Vocalist of the Year and Contemporary Choir of the Year. His song "I Can't Breathe," inspired by George Floyd's death and the Black Lives Matter movement, was featured on the Juneteenth episode of the TV show "The View."

Haddon is also recognized as a television personality, actor, and producer. He starred in TV One's "Sins of the Father" and served as an executive producer for Oxygen's reality series "Preachers of L.A." and the music series "Fix My Choir." His work as an executive producer extends to independent films such as "A Beautiful Soul," "Blessed and Cursed," and "The Fallen." He also released the holiday album "A Deitrick Haddon Christmas."

Haddon serves as the founder and senior pastor of Hill City Church in Los Angeles, known for its worship services and community outreach programs. His approach to gospel music and ministry is characterized by a blend of passionate devotional expression and sermon-like performances, maintaining a strong presence both on stage and in the pulpit.
