Dede McGuire

DeDe McGuire is recognized as a leading voice in American radio, with a career spanning several decades as an on-air radio personality. McGuire began her radio journey as a receptionist at KOOV 103.1, a country music station in Killeen, Texas, before advancing to on-air roles. She has noted that one of her early challenges was overcoming skepticism about women succeeding as radio hosts. When McGuire arrived at Dallas's K104 (KKDA-FM) to fill in temporarily, she was hired full-time after her first show.

After co-hosting the nationally syndicated program "The Doug Banks Show" for more than six years, McGuire launched her own morning show, "DeDe in the Morning." The program airs weekdays on KKDA/K104 in Dallas and is broadcast nationwide. Produced by SBG Content Factory and syndicated by Compass Media Networks, "DeDe in the Morning" reaches over 80 markets across the United States. The show features a blend of entertainment, national headlines, hip-hop culture, artist news, and community events, appealing to a diverse urban radio audience.

McGuire is among the few women in the country to host her own morning show. Her influence extends beyond radio, with appearances on CNN, BET, and FOX, and interviews with prominent figures such as Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Hillary Clinton, Jay-Z, and Beyoncé. She has also appeared in the film "The Best Man" and hosts "DeDe's Dope Podcast," a companion to her radio show.

Her contributions to broadcasting have been recognized with the International Black Broadcasters Lifetime Achievement Award, a Gracie Award from the Alliance for Women in Media, and multiple inclusions in Radio Ink's Most Influential Women in Radio. McGuire is featured in The Black Women in Radio Historic Collection and Oral History Project, a partnership with the Library of Congress. She has also been inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame.

Beyond broadcasting, McGuire is active in philanthropy. She established the DeDe McGuire Foundation, which provides scholarships to women and HBCU students. She supports numerous nonprofit organizations, including Women Called Moses and Dress for Success Dallas, and offers scholarships such as the Achieve The Dream DeDe McGuire Scholarship. McGuire's adaptability and commitment have enabled her to maintain a strong presence in the evolving radio and media landscape, making her a significant figure in urban radio and community engagement.
