DeAndre Hopkins

DeAndre Hopkins is recognized as one of the top wide receivers in NFL history, known for his consistent performance and competitive drive. Hopkins played college football for the Clemson Tigers and was selected by the Houston Texans in the first round of the NFL Draft. At Clemson, he recorded 82 receptions for 1,405 yards and 18 touchdowns during his junior year, setting a school record for touchdown receptions in a single season. His college career totaled 206 receptions for 3,020 yards and 27 touchdowns over 39 games.

During his professional football career, Hopkins established himself as a perennial All-Pro wide receiver. He earned three First-team All-Pro honors, two Second-team All-Pro selections, and five Pro Bowl appearances, and led the NFL in receiving touchdowns in one season. His top NFL season with the Texans included 115 receptions for 1,572 yards and 11 touchdowns. Hopkins is one of only four players in NFL history—alongside Torry Holt, Marvin Harrison, and Antonio Brown—to record 750 or more receptions, 10,500 or more receiving yards, and 65 or more touchdowns in his first nine seasons. In addition to Houston, he played for the Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titans, Kansas City Chiefs, and Baltimore Ravens. During a Thanksgiving matchup with the Ravens, Hopkins reached the milestone of 1,000 career receptions, a benchmark achieved by only a select group of receivers, most of whom have been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Hopkins' personal story includes overcoming significant adversity. His mother, Sabrina Greenlee, survived poverty, sexual abuse, and an acid attack that left her blind and severely burned. After the attack, Hopkins took on greater responsibility, crediting his mother for his success. He honors her by giving her the football after scoring a touchdown, a tradition that began in his youth. Hopkins has used his platform to raise awareness for domestic violence, wearing cleats with the National Domestic Violence Hotline number and donating to victims of abuse. Greenlee shared her experiences in her memoir, "Grant Me Vision: A Journey of Family, Faith, and Forgiveness," which features a foreword by Hopkins.

Hopkins has also contributed to football as a coach, joining Georgia Tech as an assistant wide receivers coach. His expertise in wide receiver technique, offensive strategy, and player development continues to influence the sport, both on the field and on the sidelines.
