David Sarkus

David J. Sarkus, MS, CSP, is recognized in the field of occupational health and safety as "The Safety Coach." Sarkus is the president and founder of David Sarkus International Inc., a health and safety consulting and training firm. He holds a Master of Science in Safety Management from West Virginia University and a Master of Science in Organizational Psychology from Saint Mary's College of California. Sarkus is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) by examination, combining expertise in safety management and organizational psychology to address workplace safety culture and leadership.

With more than 30 years of experience in occupational health and safety management across large, diversified industrial environments, Sarkus focuses on climate and culture assessments, strategic safety planning, safety culture change, behavior-based safety, leadership, engagement and alignment, safety coaching, and attention control tactics. His safety interventions have contributed to significant reductions in key performance indicators and improvements in safety-related workforce engagement.

Sarkus is the author of five books and over 50 peer-reviewed articles. His first book, "The Safety Coach: Unleash the 7C's for World Class Safety Performance!" is a best seller. He is also the host of a Coastal best-selling video featuring Bobby Bowden. Sarkus's work has appeared as cover stories in Professional Safety Magazine and Industrial Safety & Hygiene News, and he has served as technical editor for ISHN. He has received several honors, including a Best Practices Award for TRW Inc., and has been named a Top 50 EHS Professional by Industrial Safety & Hygiene News.
