David O'Doherty Biography
David O’Doherty is an Irish comedian, writer, and performer born in Dublin in 1975. After briefly considering careers in cycling and jazz music, he moved into comedy in the late 1990s, gaining early recognition when he won the Channel 4 So You Think You’re Funny? competition at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 1999. Over the following years, he developed a distinctive comedic style through touring internationally, creating theatrical and musical comedy shows, and earning nominations and awards at the Edinburgh Fringe, including winning the if.comedy Award for Best Show in 2008.
In addition to stand-up, O’Doherty has written children’s books and comedy publications, collaborated on radio programs, and appeared in television and film projects. He has performed across Europe, North America, Australia, and New Zealand, while also making appearances on popular UK panel shows and radio programs. His career has continued to expand through new comedy tours, writing projects, and television specials, establishing him as a versatile and internationally recognized comedic performer.
