David Justice

David Justice is a former Major League Baseball outfielder known for his power hitting, postseason performances, and consistent play. Justice played 14 seasons in Major League Baseball, appearing for the Atlanta Braves, Cleveland Indians, New York Yankees, and Oakland Athletics. He was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the fourth round of the MLB Draft out of Thomas More College, where he initially played basketball before transitioning to baseball. Justice made his MLB debut with the Braves and quickly established himself as a power-hitting corner outfielder, earning the National League Rookie of the Year Award after batting .282 with 28 home runs and 78 RBIs in his first full season.

Justice's tenure with the Atlanta Braves was a significant part of his career. During his time with the Braves, he led the National League in runs batted in before being sidelined by a back injury, finishing the season with 87 RBIs and making his first World Series appearance. Justice had a standout season with 40 home runs, 120 RBIs, and 78 walks, placing third in MVP voting. Over his career, Justice was a three-time MLB All-Star and a two-time Silver Slugger Award winner. In the 1995 World Series, Justice hit a decisive home run in Game 6, providing the only run in the championship-clinching game.

After his time in Atlanta, Justice continued to contribute with other teams. In Cleveland, he became the starting left fielder, made his third All-Star team, won a second Silver Slugger Award, and posted a career-high 1.013 OPS. He was named the AL Comeback Player of the Year and won the League Championship Series Most Valuable Player Award for the American League Championship Series, helping his team to a World Series title. Justice also played a role in the Oakland Athletics' 20-game winning streak, which was depicted in the film "Moneyball."

Justice concluded his major-league career with 305 home runs, 1,017 RBIs, and 1,571 hits. He ranks among the all-time leaders in postseason RBIs, games played, and hits. Justice was inducted into the Atlanta Braves Hall of Fame, becoming the first member of the Braves' consecutive division title teams to receive the honor. After his playing career, Justice worked as a color analyst for ESPN's baseball telecasts and later joined YES Network as a studio and game analyst for New York Yankees broadcasts.
