David Heath is the co-founder and former chief executive officer of Bombas, a mission-driven apparel brand recognized for its direct-to-consumer business model and social impact. Before launching Bombas, Heath led business development as a founding employee at UrbanDaddy and later joined the new media acquisitions and strategy team at Yucaipa Companies. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Babson College with majors in marketing, management, and entrepreneurship.
Heath has founded three companies, including one successful exit, and has invested in and consulted for a range of startup businesses from concept through launch and growth. The concept for Bombas originated when Heath learned through a Salvation Army social media post that socks are the most requested item at homeless shelters. This insight inspired him to address the need through a business solution, dedicating two years to product testing and refinement to develop high-performance, comfortable socks while maintaining a commitment to social responsibility.
Heath and co-founder Randy Goldberg launched Bombas with a campaign on Indiegogo, raising $25,000 on the first day and $150,000 in the first month. Bombas later became known as one of the most successful "Shark Tank" investments, achieving a valuation of $3.4 billion. Under Heath's leadership, Bombas grew into a leading direct-to-consumer brand, reaching approximately $500 million in annual revenue, more than $3 billion in lifetime sales, and donating over 200 million items to those in need. The company, initially focused on socks, has expanded into additional clothing categories. Heath has emphasized the importance of integrating the company's mission across all teams.
Heath has appeared on ABC's "Shark Tank," NBC's TODAY Show, CBS' "This Morning," ABC's "Good Morning America," Bloomberg TV, and in The New York Times. He was named EY Entrepreneur of the Year and received the Humanitarian Femmy Award. Heath has shared his expertise in entrepreneurship and brand building at institutions such as Duke University's Fuqua School of Business as part of the Distinguished Speakers Series. Serving as executive chairman of Bombas, Heath continues to invest in and advise consumer businesses across the United States. His experience illustrates the impact of purpose-driven entrepreneurship in the apparel and consumer goods industries.
