David Hagerman

David Hagerman is a cultural steward, independent film producer, writer, and business consultant specializing in industrial design, branding, and documentary film production. As the representative for the Estate of Raymond Loewy, known as the father of industrial design and the man who shaped America, Hagerman manages Loewy's intellectual property, design philosophy, and public image. His involvement with the Loewy legacy began through managing the designer's interests in the United States, collaborating with Loewy's daughter, Laurence, who established Loewy Design to continue her father's work.

Hagerman played a key role in opening the Loewy Gallery in Roanoke, Virginia, the only permanent United States gallery dedicated to Raymond Loewy, located in a railway station redesigned by Loewy. At the gallery's opening, Hagerman addressed museum patrons and premiered the documentary film "Raymond Loewy Loved Locomotives," co-produced with filmmaker Ross Stansfield. He has served as a board member of both the Raymond Loewy Foundation and the Raymond Loewy Museum, and directs Loewy International Exhibitions, overseeing branding, promotion, publishing, museum exhibitions, and documentary film production for the estate.

Hagerman's work in documentary film has introduced Loewy's story to international audiences. He appeared in the French documentary "Raymond Loewy: Designer of American Dreams," produced with ARTE France, where he discussed Loewy's influence on modern life. The film introduced viewers to Loewy's MAYA principle—Most Advanced Yet Acceptable—which shaped designs such as Air Force One's livery, the Coca-Cola bottle, and the Studebaker Avanti.

As a keynote speaker, Hagerman addresses topics including motivational psychology, entrepreneurship, documentary film production, and the design philosophy behind Air Force One. Drawing on firsthand knowledge of the Loewy family and archives, he explores how one designer's vision influenced American culture and commerce. Hagerman's expertise in public relations, media relations, and marketing communications positions him as a knowledgeable voice on the intersection of design, branding, and business leadership at corporate events, museum programs, and cultural institutions.
