David Allemann

In 2010, David Allemann co-founded the Swiss sports company On with two friends. Four years later, he received the Swiss Economic Forum Award for Entrepreneurship. As the company’s first chief financial officer, he built On’s production capabilities and supply chain in Asia, secured financing, and helped establish the brand’s distinctive design identity and digital marketing approach.

Today, On running shoes, known for their innovative cushioning technology, are sold in more than 60 countries at more than 9,000 retailers. The company has become the fastest-growing running shoe and apparel brand globally and is firmly positioned among the industry’s leaders. Allemann co-leads the company with a focus on product, marketing and its direct-to-consumer business.

Driven by creativity and bold ideas, Allemann began his career after completing law school in 1995, when he co-founded one of the first digital agencies in the early days of the internet. He later worked as a strategy consultant at McKinsey & Company in sports and media and at the McKinsey Startup Accelerator. In the creative sector, he served as managing director of the advertising agency Advico Young & Rubicam and as global chief marketing officer of Vitra, the renowned design and furniture brand.

Allemann has collaborated with leading designers, architects, storytellers, photographers and filmmakers and is a member of the Art Directors Club. He completed an AMP program at INSEAD and serves on the advisory board of the Swiss Startup Factory. In 2019, he was named Switzerland’s Marketeer of the Year.
