Flying a combat mission over Vietnam, Carey’s aircraft was shot down. A graduate of the United States Naval Academy, Carey is a retired Navy Captain. He was three times selected to be a Commanding Officer and served as the Director of the Navy’s premiere site for leadership and management training. In this role he personally led leadership seminars for prospective commanding and executive officers.

His audiences and clients have included numerous diverse groups and organizations. Among Captain Carey’s military awards are the Legion of Merit, five Bronze Stars, two Meritorious Service Medals, the Purple Heart, eight Air Medals and the Navy Commendation Medal.
