Darius Rucker

Darius Rucker is a singer, songwriter, and musician known for achieving success in both rock and country music. Rucker first gained prominence as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist of the Grammy Award-winning band Hootie & the Blowfish. The group sold more than 25 million albums worldwide, including their Double Diamond-certified debut, "Cracked Rear View," which ranks among the top 10 best-selling studio albums of all time. The album reached number one and featured hits such as "Hold My Hand," "Time," "Let Her Cry," and "I Only Want to Be With You," earning the band two Grammy Awards. The band's blues-influenced sound, combined with Rucker's baritone voice, contributed to their widespread appeal.

Following Hootie & the Blowfish's hiatus, Rucker transitioned to country music, establishing himself as a leading artist in the genre. Since releasing his first country album, Rucker has achieved four No. 1 albums on the Billboard Country chart, including RIAA Platinum-certified "Learn to Live" and "True Believers." He has also earned 10 No. 1 singles at country radio and 11 Gold, Platinum, or multi-Platinum certified hits. Rucker became the first African American to reach the Top 20 on the country charts since Charley Pride. He was inducted as a Grand Ole Opry member and received a Grammy Award for Best Solo Country Performance for his Diamond-certified version of "Wagon Wheel," one of the top five best-selling country songs of all time.

Rucker's album "Carolyn's Boy" is his eighth studio release and sixth in the country genre. The album serves as a tribute to his mother and features collaborations with Ed Sheeran and Chapel Hart. In addition to his recording career, Rucker received a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Recording and co-hosted the CMA Awards. He has also performed at major events such as the Stagecoach Music Festival and the American Music Awards at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Beyond music, Rucker is active in philanthropy. He co-chaired a capital campaign that raised $150 million for the MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina, and has raised more than $3.6 million for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital through his annual Darius & Friends benefit concert and golf tournament. The Country Music Association Foundation recognized Rucker with its humanitarian award for his charitable work. He has expanded his business interests by joining the Legacy Motor Club NASCAR team as an investor and is part of the Music City Baseball investment group working to bring an MLB team to Tennessee.
