Danny Fortson

Danny Fortson is a world-renowned tech journalist, commentator, keynote speaker and moderator, voted Business and Finance Journalist of the Year at the UK Press Awards for his coverage of the tragic story of Mike Lynch.

The West Coast correspondent for The Sunday Times, Fortson is a true expert who can take people inside the Silicon Valley future machine. He is able to explain how to innovate amid a bubble where most companies - and ideas - will fail, how some jobs will disappear while novel ones emerge, how autonomous agents and humans with AI co-pilots in some settings have begun producing at superhuman levels. 

Fortson describes AI as the next infrastructure layer on which industries will and must be built - a shift that businesses ignore at their peril - and does so in a way that informs, engages and entertains. 

Alongside The Times Technology Business Editor, Katie Prescott, Fortson hosts The Times Tech podcast. Each week sees a fresh interview with pioneers in tech, from the brightest start-ups to the tech giants, as he and Prescott chronicle the AI revolution.

Before returning to the San Francisco Bay Area to cover the technology industry in 2016, Fortson spent 13 years in London, where he covered everything from tech to airlines, financial services, defense, oil and gas and mining. He has reported from more than 25 countries in Africa, Asia, South America and Europe, and has been recognized by The Society of Editors as one of Britain’s top tech journalists in five of the last seven years.

Fortson conceived, reported, wrote and narrated an 8-part audio documentary called "Tales of Silicon Valley," which was commended by the British Podcast Awards. He hosted a weekly chat show called "Danny in the Valley" where he interviewed nearly 400 technology founders and investors ranging from Bill Gates and Marc Andreessen to the next generation of world-changers.
