Daniel Hulme

Dr. Daniel Hulme is a British artificial intelligence scientist, entrepreneur, and investor with extensive experience in AI research and commercial applications. Hulme holds a doctorate in artificial intelligence and has more than 25 years of experience in the field. He is the founder and CEO of Satalia, an AI company acquired by WPP, where he serves as Chief AI Officer. In this role, Hulme oversees AI strategy for one of the world's largest advertising and communications companies, focusing on the integration of machine learning, optimization, and decision intelligence across global operations.

Hulme established Satalia as a research-led venture before expanding it into a commercial AI company. Under his leadership, Satalia developed solutions for operational efficiency, resource allocation, and forecasting, supporting organizations in deploying scalable AI capabilities. The company partnered with Tesco to develop a last-mile delivery system that optimized vehicle schedules across the UK, serving millions of customers and reducing operational costs and environmental impact. Satalia was recognized in the Gartner Cool Vendors list for data science and was listed by City AM as one of the fastest-growing technology firms in the UK.

In addition to his corporate responsibilities, Hulme co-founded Conscium, an AI safety company focused on testing and verifying AI agents. Conscium's platform, VerifyAX, enables organizations to test, audit, and govern AI agents before and after deployment, with research initiatives in machine consciousness and neuromorphic computing. Hulme has contributed to global discussions on AI ethics and safety, including signing an open letter to the United Nations regarding the use of AI in autonomous weapons.

Hulme earned his master's and doctorate degrees in artificial intelligence from University College London, where he previously directed the Applied AI MSc (Business Analytics) program. He is currently Computer Science Entrepreneur-in-Residence at UCL and lectures at the London School of Economics' Marshall Institute, focusing on the application of AI to business and social challenges. Hulme is a Founding Fellow of the Academy for the Mathematical Sciences and holds a Kauffman Global Entrepreneur Scholarship, which included placements at leading U.S. institutions and Cisco Systems.

Hulme is a frequent keynote speaker for technology companies and conferences, including TEDx, and is a faculty member at Singularity University, specializing in AI, ethics, innovation, and organizational design. He serves in advisory and executive roles across companies and governments and contributes to books, podcasts, and articles on artificial intelligence, AI ethics, and technology innovation.
