Daniel Hugh Kelly

Daniel Hugh Kelly is an American actor whose career spans stage, film, and television across five decades. Kelly pursued a Master of Fine Arts at Catholic University in Washington, D.C., on a full scholarship, laying the groundwork for a career defined by versatility and craft. He appeared in numerous Off-Broadway and Off-Off-Broadway productions, primarily at The Public Theater and Second Stage Theatre, and became a company member of the Williamstown Theater Festival, the Folger Theater, Arena Stage, and the Actors Theatre of Louisville. He also toured with National Players, the oldest classical touring company in the United States.

Kelly first captured television audiences' attention with a regular role on the daytime drama "Ryan's Hope," appearing in nearly 500 episodes over three years. He made his feature film debut as the father in "Cujo." His breakout moment came with the lead role of Mark McCormick, an ex-convict and skilled race car driver, in the ABC action-drama series "Hardcastle and McCormick." The series centered on McCormick partnering with retired judge Milton C. Hardcastle, played by Brian Keith, to capture fugitives, blending high-speed chases with themes of redemption and mentorship. Kelly also directed and wrote several episodes of "Hardcastle and McCormick."

After the show ran its three-season course, Kelly moved on to parts in films and TV movies, as well as recurring roles in various shows. His feature film roles include "Cujo," "Someone to Watch Over Me," "The Good Son," "Bad Company," and "Star Trek: Insurrection." Kelly also appeared in miniseries and television films including "Citizen Cohn," "The Tuskegee Airmen," "From the Earth to the Moon" as Gene Cernan, and "Passing Glory." He portrayed John F. Kennedy in "Jackie, Ethel, Joan: The Women of Camelot."

Throughout his career, Kelly continued to work on stage. He starred on Broadway as Brick opposite Kathleen Turner in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" and as Paul Verrall opposite Madeline Kahn in "Born Yesterday." He appeared at the Mark Taper Theater Forum, originating the role of Richard in "Living Out" by Lisa Loomer. On television, Kelly guest-starred in series such as "Law & Order," "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," "The West Wing," "NCIS: Los Angeles," "Supernatural," "Major Crimes," and "Boston Legal," and returned to daytime television on "As the World Turns," playing Col. Winston Mayer. With more than 80 acting credits throughout his on-screen career, Kelly's deep theatrical roots and wide-ranging screen work reflect a lifetime of dedication to acting, television, and film.
