Daniel Cudmore

Daniel Cudmore is a Canadian actor, stuntman, and former professional rugby union player known for his work in action films, superhero movies, and science fiction television. Standing at 6 feet 8 inches, Cudmore began his career in the performing arts after a sports injury ended his football scholarship at Gannon University, prompting a shift from athletics to acting.

Cudmore's breakout role came when director Bryan Singer cast him as Colossus in the superhero film "X2: X-Men United," alongside Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, and Halle Berry. His portrayal of the superhuman mutant Colossus resonated with comic book fans, leading to an expanded role in "X-Men: The Last Stand." He later reprised the character in "X-Men: Days of Future Past." When Colossus was set to appear in the film "Deadpool," Cudmore declined the role after learning his voice would be dubbed, and the character was recast.

Cudmore gained international recognition for his role as Felix in the Summit Entertainment film franchise "The Twilight Saga." He played the Volturi Felix in "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse," and "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1." In addition to his film work, Cudmore has appeared on television series including "Stargate SG-1," "Supernatural," and "Psych." He also guest-starred as the villain Gridlock in the premiere of season five of "The Flash."

Cudmore was cast as Master Chief in "Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn," a role that leveraged his height and physical presence to contrast with the teenage cadets in the series. He studied his movements on set to ensure a fluid, deliberate performance in the suit. The series received a Streamy Award, a Motion Picture Sound Editors Golden Reel Award for sound editing, and a nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award for main title design.

Cudmore has also taken on leading roles in independent films such as the thriller "Rites of Passage," sharing the screen with Christian Slater, Stephen Dorff, and Wes Bentley, and appeared in the drama "The Baytown Outlaws" with Billy Bob Thornton, Paul Wesley, and Eva Longoria.
