Daniel B. Fagbuyi

Dr. Daniel B. Fagbuyi is a board-certified emergency physician, biodefense authority, military veteran, and public health advocate with a career spanning clinical medicine, national security, and public health policy. Fagbuyi served as assistant professor of pediatrics and emergency medicine at The George Washington University School of Medicine, where he earned his medical degree at age 25. He completed his pediatrics residency at Howard University and a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at UPMC Medical Education. He later served as medical director for disaster preparedness at Children's National Health System.

Fagbuyi's government service includes appointment to the National Biodefense Science Board by the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, where he provided guidance on public health emergency preparedness and response. He also served as a special medical advisor at the Food and Drug Administration, focusing on public health, counter-terrorism, and emerging threats. As a former biodefense and public health appointee, Fagbuyi has testified before Congress and advised on policy at the Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Homeland Security, Food and Drug Administration, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the White House.

In the military, Fagbuyi served as a major, infantryman, and battalion surgeon during Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 101st Airborne Division. He provided care for soldiers and civilians and acted as a liaison between the U.S. Army and the Iraqi Ministry of Health, contributing to the rebuilding of medical facilities and delivery of humanitarian aid.

Fagbuyi is recognized as a public health communicator and innovator, appearing on CNN, MSNBC, NPR, The Washington Post, Bloomberg, National Geographic, and Today Show. He has authored medical literature and delivered expert testimony to congressional committees. As chief medical officer and executive vice president at Ligandal, Inc., Fagbuyi leverages artificial intelligence and computational medicine to develop medical countermeasures for biodefense and public health emergencies, as well as precision genetic medicine therapies for chronic diseases and cancer.

Fagbuyi provides consultation and expertise in the United States, Africa, Japan, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Qatar. He focuses on delivering accessible, culturally competent public health information and education, addressing topics such as pandemic preparedness, bioterrorism, health equity, and emergency medicine.
