Dan Lanning

Dan Lanning initially gained recognition in the world of college football as a defensive coordinator and outside linebackers coach at the University of Georgia, where he contributed to the Bulldogs' victory in the 2022 College Football Playoff National Championship. Further demonstrating his capability, Lanning was promoted to the position of defensive coordinator in February 2019, a pivotal move that was instrumental in Georgia's triumph over Alabama in the National Championship in January 2022. Shortly after, in December 2021, he was announced as the new head coach of Oregon football.

During his tenure at the University of Oregon, Lanning has made significant strides. He led the Oregon Ducks to a Big Ten Championship in 2024 and under his direction, the team won the Fiesta Bowl against Liberty with a commanding score of 45-6 in January 2024. Despite falling to Ohio State in the Rose Bowl in January 2025, Lanning's leadership ensured the Oregon team secured the No. 1 seed in the college football playoffs in December 2024. As of the 2025 season, Lanning's record at Oregon includes an impressive 48 wins and 7 losses.

Apart from his achievements at Georgia and Oregon, Lanning has built a robust coaching résumé with various assistant coaching roles at universities such as Pittsburgh, Arizona State, Alabama, and Memphis. His hands-on experience in diverse settings, including a stint as a high school football coach in Missouri, has honed his skills and expertise. In recognition of his contributions to the sport, Lanning was awarded the prestigious Stallings Award in 2025.
