Dan Campbell

Dan Campbell is a football coach and former tight end who serves as the head coach of the Detroit Lions in the National Football League. Campbell has more than 28 years of NFL experience, including 17 years as a coach and 11 as a player. He was drafted by the New York Giants in the third round of the NFL Draft and played for the Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Lions, and New Orleans Saints. Campbell was a member of the Giants team that appeared in Super Bowl XXXV.

After retiring as a player, Campbell began his coaching career with the Miami Dolphins, starting as an intern before being promoted to tight ends coach. He later served as interim head coach of the Dolphins and then joined the New Orleans Saints as assistant head coach and tight ends coach under Sean Payton, spending five years on Payton's staff.

The Detroit Lions named Campbell head coach, making him the 28th head coach in franchise history and the fifth former Lions player to hold the position. When Campbell was hired, the Lions were coming off a challenging stretch and had not won a playoff game in decades. Under Campbell's leadership, the team showed steady progress, culminating in a divisional title, a playoff home game, and a postseason victory. The Lions broke several franchise records, including most wins in a single season, and advanced to the NFC Championship Game. Campbell's work earned him the Greasy Neale Award and The Sporting News NFL Coach of the Year honors. Texas A&M recognized him with the Lettermen's Association Lifetime Achievement Award.

Campbell is known for his direct communication style and emphasis on grit, teamwork, and physical play. He has established a culture of collaboration and resilience within the Lions organization.
